WHY LASH EXTENSIONS ARE MARVELOUS WHEN ONE IS ON HOLIDAY.

doubletakestudio No Comments

WHY LASH EXTENSIONS ARE MARVELOUS WHEN ONE IS ON HOLIDAY.

Vacation

  1. You feel much prettier without any effort. Even when you’ve flown 12 hours to Mexico.
  2. You need to pack very little eye makeup. One eye shadow quad, two brushes (one to line, one fluffy crease brush) and some liquid liner is all.
  3. You need to wear very little makeup, (definitely not mascara, which some twits do, but is utterly unnecessary and destroys the extensions) which whether you are frolicking in the sunshine at Cancun, or climbing the Mayan Pyramid, is a real win. How fabulous it is to wake up, get dressed, slap your hair up and wear nothing but tinted moisturiser/foundation, blush/bronzer and lipgloss. And dear GRUG does it make getting ready to go out fast. Eyes thieve so much makeup preparation time.
  4. You look fantastic in all of your photos. Whether you’re fresh out of the surf with wet hair, by the bar or shoving food down your gob.
  5. You are ‘party ready,’ a term that irritates me, but is accurate. Long lashes just seem more… celebratory somehow. We get falsies for special occasions I guess, so having them on for Christmas and NYE makes sense.
  6. Your boyfriend/men give you more complimentsand mistakenly think you are far more beautiful and flirtatious than you actually are. Embrace this at all costs. Reveal not your lash trickery and wink up a storm, doll!

5 Reasons You Should Really Go Get a Facial (Male & Female)

doubletakestudio No Comments
  1. If something’s wrong, you’ll find out why.

Your skin changes over time depending on age, weather, and even hormones. It’s a good idea to have an expert who can help you address those changes, identify skin conditions, and educate you on how to treat them. If you have great skin now, don’t trust that it will last forever! For example, lots of girls suffer from eczema in the winter and simply blame it on dryness. Not treating a serious condition can lead to long-term skin damage!

  1. It’s better than the beauty counter.

You know when you go to a beauty store and someone tells you what to buy based on looking at your skin under fluorescent lighting? That’s not how we should be purchasing things. A knowledgeable, licensed Esthetician will provide personalized skin recommendations and a regimen that will address your individual concerns. So, the best way to know your skin is to examine it, cleanse it, treat it, and then assess it. Once you’re on a great regimen, the Esthetician will update it by season. It’s like having your own concierge! Haha

  1. There are some things you just can’tDIY.

You will never have the right products at home to get a professional effect, taking steam machine as a prime example! Esthetician utilizes light therapy, using blue and red LED, to eradicate the bacteria that cause inflammation during breakouts. It’s also been proven to reduce pore size, stabilize oil production, and promote healthy cell growth. Unless you’ve got big bucks and the proper degree, you can’t get that kind of treatment at home!

  1. You’re popping your zits wrong.

Don’t lie. We know you do it because we do, too. But every time you squeeze a pimple, you’re risking acne scarring and dark marks. Regular, professional extractions will help keep the skin clear! It will also help prevent long-term damage you might be causing at home. You may even find that booking a regular appointment will eliminate any reason to pick and pop yourself. Facials are essential to prevent imperfections.

  1. You’ll find your happy place.

Facials are so much more relaxing than a Do It Yourself at home kind of thing. In fact, Berthelot uses a mix of high frequency, massage, and hot towels to maximize the pampering experience! Everyone knows stress can cause skin issues, so a facial can cure any breakouts and give you reason to take a few deep, cleansing breaths.

Ear Candling for EVERYONE!

The Benefits of Ear Candling

When used properly, the benefits of ear candling may include:
• Clears wax & debris from the ear canal
• Relieves pressure from behind the eardrum

• Eases earache, headache & sinus pressure, allergies
• Relaxation from the negative charge of the herbal smoke
• Acts as a catalyst to clear nerve endings & promote healing

Ear Candling Image

How Ear Candling Works

Ear candling takes about 30-45 minutes, it’s non-invasive and has a narcotic effect which is very relaxing. The ear candle is lit on the wide end and heat is not felt in the ear canal.
The negative charge of the herbal smoke and spiral shape of the candle work together to stimulate the respiratory system and cleanse. Dorothy says it’s a way of, “Tweaking the body and letting it balance itself.”
The gentle vacuum effect of fire causes debris to be drawn up the candle toward the flame.

Important Ear Candling Notes
• Chronic conditions may take up to three sessions to finish the cleansing process, but they need to be spaced 7-10 days apart.
• If your ears feel dry after cleansing, use a few drops of warm ear oil. This very soothing.
• Ear candling is not a cure-all. While effective in many cases, it is best to be seen first by your doctor if you are experiencing specific medical problems.
• Ear candling is not recommended for 1) People who have a hole in their eardrum. 2) If you’ve had tubes in your eardrums (Can be checked to see if they have healed shut before candling). 3) If you have difficulty breathing where small amounts of smoke is a threat. (ex. emphysema, etc.)
• Excessive use is not wise or recommended.

CLASSIC LASHING VS. RUSSIAN VOLUME

doubletakestudio No Comments

Classic lashing is the art of skillfully applying one single synthetic eyelash extension, to one isolated natural lash.

There are different types of eyelash extensions. Some are absolutely genuine real mink, some synthetic and some faux mink or silk extensions. All can be wonderful when used properly.   A lot of different factors go into applying classic lash extensions correctly, such as the length, curl, and diameter. Other factors such as isolation, properly adhering the lashes and using the correct amount of adhesive can greatly affect the lashes as well. Lengths range anywhere from 7-14 millimeters — some brands carry up to sizes 17mm! Proper education is important when learning how to apply lashes. You can definitely notice the difference between someone who invests in their education and practices their hearts out, verses someone who does not.

When applying a classic or basic set of eyelash extensions, you are only able to apply as many extensions as there are healthy natural lashes to your clients’ eyes. For some clients, this works out perfect for them, as they have thick natural lashes. But for others who may not have many lashes, or have gaps. This can be disappointing and some lash artists might think to use a thicker diameter. WRONG. Increasing the diameter of the extension will not create a fuller look. This can be damaging as well as look and feel heavy. However… there’s a new technique taking over the lashing world right now. It is known as Russian Volume.

The Russian Volume technique is a pristine method in which you are SAFELY applying anywhere from 2-6 super fine, lightweight extensions per natural lash.

Many who have heard about the new volume technique have various questions like is it safe for the natural lashes? Is it too heavy? Will it damage the natural lashes? With the Volume technique you can actually apply more lashes, using less weight. This allows you to create fuller more lush lashes. Especially for those who do not have many natural lashes. Volume lashing is indeed a technique. It is not a type of lash. You are using certain diameters for the volume technique. But it’s all about how you apply them. With volume, you are still isolating perfectly one natural lash, but instead of applying one single classic lash, you apply a hand made “fan” or “bouquet” of thinner diameter lashes that are hand-crafted to customize the perfect weight for every single natural lash.

As well as using less weight, and being able to customize the lengths, and how much weight goes on to each lash, this technique also allows you to use less glue. Sounds odd right? More lashes, less glue? But with the technique, you are taught to wrap the adhesive around the natural lash. All the extensions support each other and using less adhesive means less allergies, less irritations. This service takes about 30 minutes longer than classic lashing, easily cut in half when you become a pro. You are able to charge more for this service. Clients can go longer in between fills, the extensions are lighter on the natural lashes making long-term wear even more plausible. Clients are more happy than ever because they have SOFT, full lashes that look and feel more natural.

6 Eyelash Extension Myths to Stop Believing Now

6 Eyelash Extension Myths to Stop Believing Now

There are a lot of myths out there about eyelash extensions—from it being a painful process to the notion that your natural lashes will all fall out and cease to grow back ever again. As your trusted lash artists, we are here to set the record straight, to bust the common misconceptions. If you have ever considered getting them done, read on!

6 Myth (1)

First things first, your eyelashes fall out anyways. You just don’t realize it because they’re small and fine, but our natural lashes fall out every four to six weeks just like the hairs on our head. Eyelash extensions only get a bad rap because it’s more noticeable to spot natural eyelashes that have shed when they’re glued to long, thick, synthetic, and solid black fibers, and people don’t realize the process is normal and not a result of extensions.

6 Myth (2)

Your eyelashes will, in fact, grow back. Because of the lash shedding cycle, new natural eyelashes are always growing back. Hence why you get “fills.” “If new eyelashes weren’t always growing back, there would be nothing to fill,” explains by our lash artist. In other words, if eyelash extensions really made your eyelashes cease growing, refills wouldn’t even be possible, because there has to be a natural lash for the extension to adhere to.

6 Myth (3)

Take it from someone who has gotten them done several times: Nothing about the process hurts! It’s not a matter of tolerance levels; there simply is no pain involved in the eyelash extension process. If you are worried about someone using tweezers close to your eyes, you might feel anxiety, but pain is not part of the deal.

6 Myth (4)

Getting eyelash extensions does not affect the natural growth cycle during or after you decide to stop getting them applied. Many people feel that their natural lashes get thinner or shorter afterwards, but it’s essentially an optical illusion. You get used to waking up every day with thicker, dark, curled, longer lashes.  So, understandably, you think your eyelashes are thinner and shorter after the extensions have ended. In actuality, that is not the case and getting extensions has no chemical effect on the thickness or length of the lashes you were born with.

But just like it was something you got used to when you first had them applied, you will also have to get used to not having them on again or continue to pay for extensions.

6 Myth (5)

Many people think that you have to take breaks from getting extensions in order to let your natural lashes “breathe.” The idea that it’s not good to get repeated extensions because your eyelashes need breathing room is mere myth. Your eyelashes do not know that extensions are being applied to them, and they continue to shed off like normal, and a new natural lash will grow back.  However it is completely up to the client whether or not they wish to take a break.

6 Myth (6)

False. It can take forever if the technician you’re seeing is just starting out at eyelash extensions or is inexperienced and untrained. However professionals who fully specialize in eyelash extensions can perform a full set in just an hour.

Best Eyelash DIY for Bright Rested Eyes

Best Eyelash DIY for Bright Rested Eyes

*A friendly reminder for people with lash extensions – be very gentle with your lashes. When applying this technique, try to stay away from you lashes. It will allow your lash extensions to last longer.

So, if you wake with tired and puffy eyes, the first quick fix is to use a tea bag, a cold spoon or cucumber slices.

A tea bag is a handy and simple remedy used to eliminate under eye puffiness. You can use either green tea or black tea. Both have strong antioxidant powers and caffeine. Herbal tea can also be considered as an alternative but it is not as effective as green or black tea. You can simply wet two tea bags with hot water, allow them to cool down and gently place them over each eye. Leave them on for about 15 minutes and the under eye puffiness will be reduced significantly.

If you have a cucumber in your fridge, slice it up and lay a thin slice over each of your eyes (if you have lash extensions, you may want to cut the cucumber slice in half to give space to your lash extension). Cucumber is extremely effective in soothing your eyes and in removing under eye puffiness. Cucumber is also high in water content, which can help hydrate and brighten up your eyes.

Summer lashes are great, but there are a few tricks to making them last as well as they do in cooler weather. Here’s how to keep your extensions happy in the heat!

1. Wash them daily.
2. Keep your sealant in your purse! Our Double Take Studio sealant protects the lash extensions from oil, and keeps the adhesive bonds strong. Apply it throughout the day (up to 3 times) to maximum protection from oil.
3. Make sure your sun-screen is oil-free! No point in having fabulous lashes if you’re going to spray them with oil and ruin the bonds of the extensions!

Xo – enjoy the rays!
